Thomas, Ebert win Player of the Week honors for Week 11

Fans voted Jeff Thomas, Norwalk, and Shannon Ebert, of Perkins, as the Week 11 Basketball Players of the Week, brought to you by Norwalk Heating!

Thomas had 24 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Bellevue.

He received 1,095 (56 percent) of the votes.

Ebert scored 1,000th career point against Bellevue.

She received 511 (93 percent) of the votes.

The other two nominations for boys’ basketball were Monroeville's Rick Heck  with 623 votes (32 percent) and Clyde's Derek Gray with 228 votes (12 percent).

The other two nominations for girls’ basketball were Clyde's Amanda Cahill with 29 votes (5 percent) and Vemilion's AuBree LaForce with 11 votes (2 percent).

In an effort to keep our voting contests fair, the Player of the Week contest will be limited to 10 votes per day per sport per cell phone. Don't forget to vote daily for your favorite athletes!

When will the paper stop these popularity contests. Students in larger districts will always get more votes. Too bad. Getting the most votes doesn't translate into who worked harder or gave the best effort.
