MEN’S SPOTLIGHT
• Eric Schwieterman (St. Paul 2010) posted six tackles as a starting free safety for Ashland (2-3, 2-2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) in a 62-10 triumph at Lake Erie College (1-4, 1-3 GLIAC) on Oct. 5 in Painesville.

• Chalin Cahlik (Port Clinton 2011) posted wins at No. 6 singles and No. 2 doubles en route to leading Tiffin (2-2) to an 8-1 triumph at Daemen College (1-1) on Oct. 2 in Amherst, N.Y.

• Michael Grunden (Margaretta 2009) placed 36th out of 289 cross country runners competing at the 59th annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championship on Oct. 4 in Cedarville. The senior completed the 8,000-meter course with a time of 26 minutes, 12.05 seconds for Tiffin, who finished 23rd among 41 teams.

• Evan Bader (Norwalk 2012) contributed five saves as the starting goalkeeper for Ohio Northern (9-2, 1-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) in a 3-0 victory at Mount Union (5-6, 0-1 OAC) on Oct. 5 in Alliance.

• Zach Grieves (Huron 2010) totaled six tackles, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery for Otterbein (2-2, 2-1 Ohio Athletic Conference) in a 19-7 triumph at home against Baldwin Wallace (2-2, 1-2 OAC) on Oct. 5 in Westerville.

WOMEN’S SPOTLIGHT
• Corynne Smith (St. Paul 2012) was nominated for Mid-American Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced on Sept. 30. To garner the recognition, she led Eastern Michigan (11-8, 1-3 MAC) to a 1-1 record for the week by compiling 41 digs. On Oct. 5, she added 21 digs, four assists and one server ace in a 3-1 loss at Western Michigan (10-7, 3-1) in Kalamazoo, Mich.

For the year, she leads the MAC in digs with a total of 303.

• Chelsea Beck (Port Clinton 2011) collected wins at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles en route to leading Tiffin (12-1, 10-1 GLIAC) to a 9-0 sweep at home of Malone (2-11, 1-10 GLIAC) on Oct. 6.

• Emily Stewart (Edison 2010) is No. 5 among the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in kills with 178 for the season. On Oct. 5, the senior recorded 18 kills, seven digs and three blocks for Clarion (15-1, 5-1 PSAC) in a 3-0 victory at Seton Hill (15-4, 4-2 PSAC) in Greensburg, Pa.

• Taryn Graham (Huron 2011) remains No. 9 among the PSAC in digs with 193 for the season. On Oct. 5, the junior posted 13 digs for Gannon (10-5, 5-1 PSAC) in a 3-1 triumph at Slippery Rock (8-11, 3-3 PSAC) in Slippery Rock, Pa.

• Katie Green (New London 2013) provided 13 assists, seven digs and three kills for Lorain Community College (18-10) in a 3-0 sweep at home of Cleveland State Club on Oct. 5 in Lorain.

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
• Adam Smercina (Oak Harbor 2011) finished 311th at the Paul Short Run for Toledo on Oct. 5 in Bethlehem, Pa. The senior completed the 8,000-meter course with a time of 26:53 for the Rockets, who took 41st among the field of 47 teams.

• Jonathon Albaugh (New London 2013) placed 48th at the 59th annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships for No. 24 Ashland on Oct. 4 in Cedarville. The freshman completed the 8,000-meter course with a time of 26:30.59 for the Eagles, who placed fourth among the field of 41 teams.

• Jack Fisher (St. Paul 2013) finished 158th at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships with a time of 28:17.3 for Bluffton, who ended 28th.

• Chris Johnson (Perkins 2013) took 159th at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships with a time of 28:18.2 for Tiffin, who finished 23rd.

• Andrew Beier (Bellevue 2013) ended 178th at the All-Ohio Championships with a time of 28:49.95 for Ohio Dominican, who took 32nd.

• Anthony Rodriguez (St. Mary Central Catholic 2013) came in 195th at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships for Tiffin.

MEN’S SOCCER
• Tyler Eoff (Oak Harbor 2011) started at midfielder for Heidelberg (7-2, 1-0 OAC) in a 1-0 victory at home against Marietta College (3-7, 0-1 OAC) on Oct. 5 in Tiffin.

• Nico Samaniego (Huron 2011) competed as a forward for HU against MC.

VOLLEYBALL
• Jesse Miedema (Huron 2010) tallied two blocks, one kill and one dig for Radford (13-7) in a 3-2 victory at North Carolina Central (0-19) on Oct. 1 in Durham, N.C.

• Abbey Cox (Edison 2012) compiled four kills, three blocks and one dig for Clarion (15-1, 5-1 PSAC) in a 3-0 victory at Seton Hill (15-4, 4-2 PSAC) on Oct. 5 in Greensburg, Pa.

• Taylor Slauterbeck (Huron 2011) totaled four kills, two digs, one block, one assist and one ace for Malone (7-8, 2-5 GLIAC) in a 3-0 loss at Northwood (10-5, 5-2 GLIAC) on Oct. 5 in Midland, Mich.

• Jamie Hoppe (Clyde 2011) posted nine kills, nine digs, one block, one ace, one server ace for Lake Erie College (1-10, 1-6 GLIAC) in a 3-2 triumph Lake Superior State (0-11, 0-17 GLIAC) on Oct. 5 in Painesville.

• Amber Welfle (St. Paul 2010) is No. 2 among the Ohio Athletic Conference in kills with 210 for the year. On Oct. 5, the senior recorded eight kills, four digs, one block and one ace to lead Heidelberg (10-9) in a 3-0 sweep of West Liberty (7-9) on Oct. 5 in Marietta.

• Jamie Kluding (Monroeville 2012) added nine kills, four digs, one block and one ace for HU against WLU.

• Olivia Livengood (St. Paul 2013) collected six kills and three digs for Charleston (16-16, 9-5 West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) in a 3-0 loss at West Virginia Wesleyan (10-20, 6-8 WIAC) on Oct. 4 in Buckhannon, W. Va.

• Arlayna Newcomer (St. Paul 2013) provided three kills and one ace for Baldwin Wallace (8-12, 1-1 OAC) in a 3-0 loss at No. 14 Otterbein (17-4, 2-0 OAC) on Oct. 4 in Westerville.

• Kelli Weininger (Norwalk 2013) totaled five kills for Ohio Northern (11-7, 1-1 OAC) in a 3-0 loss at home against No. 7 Mount Union (21-0, 3-0 OAC) on Oct. 5 in Ada.

• Meigan Day (Port Clinton 2012) compiled 10 kills, three digs and two blocks for Ohio Wesleyan (8-11, 0-4 NCAC) in a 3-0 loss at home against DePauw (16-1, 3-0 NCAC) on Oct. 1 in Delaware.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
• Lindsay Kaatz (SMCC 2012) ended 142nd at the 59th annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships for Bowling Green on Oct. 4 in Cedarville. The sophomore completed the 6,000-meter course with a time of 25:38.94 for the Falcons, who took runner-up among the field 42 teams to Dayton.

• Ashley Waddington (Sandusky 2009) finished 188th at the Notre Dame Invitational for Ohio on Oct. 4 in Notre Dame, Ind. The senior completed the 5,000-meter course with a time of 19:56.7 for the Bobcats, who clinched 16th place among the field of 24 teams.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
• Dayna Setzler (Oak Harbor 2011) recorded two shots on goal as a starting forward for Mount Vernon Nazarene (8-5-1, 4-1 Crossroads League) in a 1-0 victory at St. Francis (8-5, 3-2 CL) on Oct. 5 in Fort Wayne, Ind.

• Sara Lipstraw (Oak Harbor 2010) competed as a starting forward for MVNU against USF.

• Katelyn Peterson (Vermilion 2010) started at midfielder for Ashland (4-3, 3-2-1 GLIAC) in a 2-0 triumph at Northwood (3-4, 3-3 GLIAC) on Oct. 6 in Midland, Mich.

• Caroline Blackwood (Norwalk 2012) contributed as a starting forward for St. Mary’s (0-10, 0-5 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) in a 3-0 loss at Concordia College (7-3, 4-1 MIAC) on Oct. 5 in Fargo, N.D.

• Alex Weirich (Oak Harbor 2012) posted one shot as a starting midfielder for Ohio Northern (4-6-1, 0-1 OAC) in a 3-1 loss at Mount Union (8-2, 1-0 OAC) on Oct. 5 in Alliance.

• Brittany Yost (Margaretta 2012) started at midfielder for Heidelberg (2-8-1, 1-0 OAC) in a 2-0 sweep at home of Marietta College (2-8, 0-1 OAC) on Oct. 5 in Tiffin.
