Defiance edged out Perkins for the top spot in the final Division II Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association state poll, which was released Monday.
Defiance (24-1) picked up 261 points, including 17 firsts and nine seconds, in scoring 261 points.
The Pirates checked in with 257 points, including 14 firsts, 14 seconds and one third, fourth and fifth.
Defiance and Perkins would play in the district final at 7 p.m. Saturday at Archbold if each win semifinal games Thursday.
Also, Bellevue in Division II; Norwalk I and New London III were in the top 20 of their respective division.
Bellevue moved up from ninth to seventh, scoring 93 points.
The Redmen picked up fourth fifths.
New London dropped from ninth to 14th with 36 points.
The Wildcats notched a second, fourth and fifth.
Norwalk fell from 10th to 15th with 15 points.
Edison in Division III and St. Mary Central Catholic and Plymouth IV all received votes.
The Pirates, Redmen, Truckers, Chargers and Panthers are all still remaining in the state tournament.
The other division winners were Mason in I; Ontario III and St. Henry IV.
Ontario takes on Oak Harbor at 5 p.m. Thursday in the second district semifinal at Heidelberg.
Edison is going against Bucyrus Wynford in the opener at 2 p.m. Thursday.
