our baseball program is in trouble. our varsity coaches are playing sophmores over our senoirs. some are coaches sons. trey keggan and brady smith are playing every inning while senoirs are sitting the bench, and guess what their dads help coach. this is wrong, these kids dont have the experience to be every day players, we need the experience of our senoirs if we are to have a chance winning our conference. what can we do about this, coach martin is taking the confidence from our senoir class who should be the ones that he builds a team around. instead he is trying to build a team are unseasoned sophmores, this is bad coaching. our senoirs arent getting the chance to make a name for themselves so colleges come and see them. martin is taking their chances of maybe getting scholarships. i remember a senoir a few years ago who was one of the better baseball players in the area, he pitched one game against huron and threw a 1 hitter. that was the second game of the year, he never seen the mound again. he had a chance of getting a scholarship but caoch martin took all that away because he pitched underclass men instead. our senoirs are getting the same treatment. coach martin has to be stopped before he ruins alot of kids life.

A few years back the Perkins basketball coach did the same thing and all the parents of the upper classmen started whining and complaining. He just thought the upperclassmen were not much better than the youngsters and with the extra experience he would have a solid team when those freshmen at the time became seniors. They did go 19-1 in their senior season but lost early in the tourney. I am not a Sandusky parent but did see them play Perkins this weekend and follow local baseball. What kids aren't playing for Sandusky that should be--please give names. I doubt your coach is not playing his best players if they are alot better than the sophomores. As for Brady and Trey, they are fine players and I have seen them play many times as my son played on travel teams with both of them. They do have the experience to be everyday players. Believe me if Sandusky had a senior who was worthy of a scholarship for baseball he would be playing. A perkins Dad.
If you have been to all the streak's games this year, you would know that keegan has the highest batting average on the team. 2nd, if smith or keegan did not catch what upperclassman would you suggest play over them? Why should a team be built around just seniors if they are not producing then why should they play over a younger kid that is playing better than them. the program should be built around the underclassmen who are in a program because they are going to be there for a few more years, not just seniors because they are older. who cares about the age or grade of a player, if he can play he should be in the line-up. putting in seniors just because they are older is "playing favorites" The season is early let the team get their feel before they start league games.
I think it is too early to be complaining about who is playing or who is not playing. Baseball is a very funny sport just because a player is hot right now does not mean they will stay hot. Parents can really screw a lot of these kids up. I don't actually like to see parents coaching their kids because oftentimes their kids do get preferential treatment. The last few years the Sandusky kids had to deal with Esposito coaching now they have to deal with Keegan coaching his son. If he was already coaching Sandusky is one thing but how ironic is it he is coaching this year when his son is on the team. You go figure. The Keegan kid looks like a solid baseball player although he is not great athlete. Sandusky sports other than softball needs a complete over haul as far as coaching goes. Sandusky plays a great deal of undersclassmen but outside Eric Jordan there are really no other seniors that really stand out on that team. Rhodes is a solid fielder but his hitting is up and down. Weaver is the same way he is inconsistent alot in his hitting and pitching but hopefully they will get it together and have a positive season. I wish the parents would just stay out of it completely. Just be fans like the rest of us and it would be better for everyone involved. I have always had a desire to coach my kids in sports but I feel as though they have enough pressure in sports so they don't need dad breathing down their neck also.
why is cameron weavers numbers so in consistent. ill tell you lack of playing time. if you sit a kid on the bench and then have them come in what are the chances of them doing well. there isnt any, if you play baseball or know the game , then you know the more you play the better you get. the more you sit you get out of rythem. then it makes your numbers not so good. plus it kind of makes the player loose confidence in himself. plus it helps when the coach uses his players in the right way. martin makes so many coaching mistakes i dont know how he keeps his job. when we went to perkins a few weeks back ray neil didnt even have to show up to be out coached. martin doesnt have a clue, let me ask a question if you have a knuckleballer. how many knuckleballs should he throw in 4 innings. well the last time seth purdue pitched he thew 2 knucklers in 4 innings. that is not playing to the strength of the players, cameron you could say is a junk pitcher, his curve and slider set up his fast ball, zac is a power pitcher his fastball sets up his curve. all players are differenet and martin and other coaches need to understand that and use their players to their strengths. if not it will be a long year for the streaks.
maybe the sophmores are actually worthy of playing all the time??
did you ever think that it wasnt JUST because their dads are assistant coachhes?? Because first of all Brady Smith was on varsity last year, and played almost all the time....no one seemed to complain about that last year, so why complain now when you son isnt playing anymore?? maybe trey and brady have the athletic ability that some of the upper classmen dont have....
stop being jealous about the fact that your son isnt playing and maybe try realizing that there is good under classmen talent that deserves to be played.
all i have seen out of trey is errors in the field. can you say 5 errors. its not jealous its total bull. cameron is better then trey, by a long shot, he just never gets the time to play because there is always coaches sons playing, zac was moved to varsity last year because of his dad and he went 0 and 7 on the mound did he deserve it no. if they thought they could win with out him why have him on the team. why does zac get to play all the time he isnt hitting the ball and he still plays that is how there is favoritism on the team. if you took cameron and seth off the team you think they would go far i hardly think so. stop sugar coating why the underclassmen are playing and call it what it is......you cant can you..... also why all these people write on here and dont give names or anything afraid of people knowing who you are ...im not. cameron thought that after mark wasnt coaching anymore he would have a fair shot at showing his stuff last year was the esposito show and this year its the keegan traveling team show... all the underclassmen that play are from keegans traveling team how is that fair...
