Norwalk, Huron, Vermilion win district titles

Three local boys' basketball teams claimed district championships Saturday.

In Division II at Mansfield Senior, Norwalk defeated Perkins 55-45 to claim a district title.

Perkins finishes its season at 21-4, with three of those losses to the Truckers.

Norwalk, now 25-1, moves on to the regional tournament at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at the Stroh Center on the campus of Bowling Green State University where the Truckers will battle Vermilion.

The Sailors, 19-7, won a district title at Westlake on Saturday with a 58-47 win over Parma Heights Holy Name.

The 8 p.m. game Thursday at Stroh Center will feature Defiance against Lima Bath.

In Division III, the Huron Tigers knocked off Colonel Crawford 51-32 at Ashland University to earn a district title.

Huron will next play Ottawa-Glandorf at 8 p.m. Wednesday at BGSU's Stroh Center in a regional semifinal.

Retiree said "I thought Huron was picked to win the SBC basketball conference. It's pretty obvious that Huron can beat the easy teams but not any really good teams. The second season they start out playing the winner of two combined records of 3 wins and 18 losses. Then your done Huron. So much for your dream team."
