Eagles break through for first win

The Monroeville Eagles finally got into the win column in the 2012-13 season.

Monroeville topped South Central 47-38 in Firelands Conference boys’ basketball action Friday night.

The hosts led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter.

The Eagles also got eight points in the quarter from Rick Heck and led 26-16 at the half.

Monroeville (1-3 in the FC) used a 10-8 third period advantage to up the lead to 36-24.

South Central (2-4, 0-4) fought back, cutting the lead to single digits with less than a minute to go, but could not quite get over the hump the rest of the way.

Ryan Sweet tossed in 15 points to fuel the Eagle attack.

David Seidel scored 11 points for South Central.
