Santoro leads Redmen past Redskins

The 6-foot-1 senior scored 25 points in the first half and finished with 28 points in three quarters of play to lead Bellevue to a 71-34 victory over Port Clinton in the first round of Division II sectional play.

The Redmen (13-10) advance to Friday night’s 6:15 p.m. championship game against Perkins (18-5).

“Obviously they know Jalen is our go-to guy,” Bellevue coach Mike Raifsnider said. “That is why they played a zone defense to try to get a guy out on him, but Jalen just got out to a great start.

The Redmen jumped out to a 24-9 lead after the first eight minutes of play. By halftime, they had a 25-point lead,

Bellevue also won the battle of the boards, finishing with 26 team rebounds, eight of which were offensive.

Trent Stamm grabbed six of those boards to go along with his 15 points.

Nathan Stubblefield had eight points for Port Clinton, which closed the season 5-16.
