FC Roundup: Western, New London share lead

The Western Reserve Roughriders capitalized on six St. Paul Flyer turnovers en route to a 32-0 win on Friday night at Bachelder Field in Firelands Conference action.

The Roughriders improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the FC.

The Flyers dropped to 3-3 and 2-1.

Western Reserve also used a solid ground attack, gaining 400 yards on the evening.

Senior Theron Martz led the way with 134 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns, while Jacob Muenz added 106 yards on five tries with two TDs.

Devin Smith led the way with 34 yards on eight carries.

New London 48, Mapleton 21
The Wildcats are tied with the Roughriders for first place in the FC after Friday’s win.

Nick Thomas ran for 187 yards and scored two touchdowns. Clay Wilson added 108 yards and three scores.

New London broke open a close game with a 22-7 third-quarter advantage.

Plymouth 21, Monroeville 13
Chance Butcher gained 119 yards and scored a fourth-quarter touchdown as Plymouth downed Monroeville Friday for an FC win.

Big Red quarterback Hunter Bailey threw for two touchdowns.

Eagles quarterback Mitchell Ott threw for 208 yards. Levi Anderson ran for 95 yards and caught three passes for 100.

South Central 22, Crestview 7
The Trojans scored 14 points in the second quarter en route to Friday’s win.

Caleb Barnett tallied two TDs for South Central, while Shawn Hale picked up 95 yards on the ground.
