Griffin, Windau win Player of the Week honors

Fans voted Michael Griffin of St. Paul and Mikayla Windau of Margaretta as the Week 8 Fandy.com Football and Volleyball Players of the Week, brought to you by Norwalk Heating & Air.

Griffin, who rushed for a school-record 333 yards yards with four TDs in a win over Crestview, received 591 (38 percent) of the votes.

Windau picked up 1,176 (53 percent) of the votes. She notched 15 kills and 23 digs in a Division III sectional final win over Edison.

The other two nominations for football were Perkins' Dale Irby, who posted 554 votes (35 percent) and Oak Harbor's A.J. Cecil 418 votes (27 percent).

In volleyball, St. Paul's Elise Nickoli gained 636 (29 percent) votes and Monroeville's Breanna Kramer had 388 (18 percent).

This was the final voting for volleyball.

In an effort to keep our voting contests fair, the Player of the Week contest will be limited to 10 votes per day per sport per cell phone. Don't forget to vote daily for your favorite athletes!
