Pirates lead area in state poll

Three area football teams finished the season ranked in the state poll

Perkins led the way, finishing fifth in Division III with 134 points.
The Pirates,who ended up 10-0 overall and won the Sandusky Bay Conference, open Region 8 first-round action at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Napoleon.
In the same division, Clyde was ranked 12th with 31 points.
Likewise, the Fliers (9-1) start Region 8 postseason action at home against Medina Buckeye at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
In Division VII, St. Paul ended up seventh with 98 points.
The Flyers (9-1 overall) captured the Firelands Conference and will host Southington Chalker at 7 p.m. Saturday at Whitney Field in a Region 23 first-round game.
Two other area schools are in the playoffs.
Norwalk (9-1) will play at Tiffin Columbian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. in a Division III, Region 8 first-round game.
And Huron (7-3) opens Division V, Region 16 first-round action at Findlay Liberty-Benton, which finished second in the state.
The division winners were Cincinnati Colerain in I, Zanesville II, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary III, Kenton IV, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy V, Kirtland VI and Marion Local VII.
