Lady Flyers soar past Eagles for FC win

The St. Paul Lady Flyers used constant pressure defense to force 32 Monroeville turnovers on their way to a win over the Lady Eagles on Thursday night in Firelands Conference action at the convocation center.

With a 53-41 win, St. Paul upped its record to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the FC, while the Lady Eagles dropped to 1-7 and 1-4.

The Lady Flyers featured balanced scoring, led by senior Arlayna Newcomer, who scored 12 points.

Monroeville held a distinct height advantage on the Lady Flyers. The Lady Eagles outrebounded the hosts 37-27.

Monroeville was paced by freshman Breanna Kramer, who scored 15 points and added nine rebounds.

St. Paul led 15-6 after one quarter and 32-16 at the half.

The Lady Flyers outscored Monroeville 14-11 in the third, while the Lady Eagles held a 14-7 scoring edge in the final quarter.
