Western Reserve jumps into state poll

Three area teams are ranked in the latest girls' basketball state poll, which was released Tuesday.

Clyde and Bellevue stayed in the same spots at Nos. 2 and 10, respectively in Division II.

The Lady Fliers (19-0) scored 178 points, including two firsts. They clinched a share of the Sandusky Bay Conference crown Saturday with a 52-48 win over Port Clinton.

Millersburg West Holmes (18-0) leads Division II with 195 points and 12 firsts.

Bellevue (14-2) scored 51 points. They have a one-game lead over Shelby in the Northern Ohio league.

They will play Saturday at Shelby.

Meanwhile, Western Reserve, the Firelands Conference champs for the fifth straight season, is in the state poll for the first time this season.

The Lady ’Riders (17-2) are ranked 14th in Division III with 13 points.

The remaining division leaders are Twinsburg at I, Smithville III and Ottoville IV.
