South Central clinches share of FC title

GREENWICH — South Central clinched at least a share of the Firelands Conference girls’ basketball crown with a 52-35 win over New London Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Trojans improved to 14-1 overall, 11-1 in the FC.

The Ladycats dropped to 10-7, 7-5.

South Central started off with a 21-12 first-quarter advantage.

They led 27-17 at halftime, 42-26 after three quarters and the eventual final margin.

Anna Hintz tossed in 22 points for South Central.

She also recorded 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Alli Hintz and Desiree Kilgore chipped in with eight points each.

Summer Sweeting notched three assists, three blocked shots and six steals.

Krista Kurunsaari led the Ladycats with 11 points.

South Central is slated to host Mansfield St. Peter Tuesday.

New London hosts St. Paul Thursday for a FC game.
