MILAN — Edison surged ahead in the fourth quarter to post a 57-50 win over Monroeville in non-league girls’ basketball action Monday night.

The Lady Chargers improved to 4-14 overall, while the Lady Eagles dropped to 10-5.

With the game tied at 32-32, Edison outscored the hosts 25-18 in the final eight minutes.

Four players reached double digits, led by Brianna Pittenger’s 16 points, including four threes.

Tiggie Sanabria scored 15 points, while Caitlen Lonabarger and Liz Hill added 10 each.

“This was the first game we missed shots and did not hang our head,’’ Lady Chargers coach Tracey Moyer said. “We missed some lay-ups early but still attacked the basket.

“We took care of the ball in the fourth quarter and won the game at the line,’’ the coach added. “We were 12-of-17 in the fourth quarter. We had four girls in double figures and that will hopefully give everyone some confidence. It was a good win against a good team.”

Paige Leitz paced Monroeville with 17 points, while Samantha Reer contributed 11.

Edison is slated to play tonight at St. Paul.

Monroeville goes to Mapleton Thursday.
