LORAIN — Norwalk picked up its third straight win, topping Lorain 61-40 Wednesday in non-league girls' basketball action.

The Lady Truckers improved to 15-6 overall and close the regular season Saturday at Tiffin Columbian.

Norwalk outscored Lorain in three of the four quarters, starting with a 20-11 advantage in the first.

The Lady Truckers upped the lead to 37-22 at half-time.

Lorain cut into the deficit with an 11-8 third-quarter advantage, but Norwalk won the fourth 16-7.

“I was proud of the girls,” Lady Truckers coach Brock Manlet said. “It was a physical game and the girls worked hard to earn the win. In the first, second and fourth quarters, we did a nice job of sharing the basketball.

“I thought we rebounded the ball well, especially in the second half,” the coach added.

Three players reached double figures for Norwalk, led by Jiselle Thomas' 16 points.

Sydnie Fetherolf scored 15 points and Alicia Lortcher added 14.

Lortcher and Fetherolf each posted seven rebounds.

Morgan Turner notched six and Thomas chipped in five.

Fetherolf also gained eight steals and Thomas contributed five.

“Our goal is to play our best basketball toward tournament time,” Manlet said. “Tiffin is much improved. They've won two of their last three. We have to stop Valehsa Province. She had 40 points against Upper Sandusky. We have to play team basketball and defend.”

The Lady Truckers reserve team also defeated Lorain.

Kayla Walsh had nine points to pace Norwalk in the 35-32 win.

Maddie Houghtlen tallied six points and Karlie Conney added five for the Lady Truckers (7-13).
