TIFFIN — It was a tale of two halves for the Norwalk girls’ basketball team against Tiffin Columbian on Saturday.
The Lady Truckers won the second half, en route to a 52-34 Northern Ohio League win.
Norwalk closed the regular season at 16-6 overall, 9-3 in the league.
After losing two straight, the Lady Truckers have rebounded to win four in a row entering the Division II sectional tournament.
Norwalk is scheduled to play Sandusky in the second game (about 8 p.m.) Tuesday at Seneca East High School.
“I was proud of the way we responded in the second half,’’ Lady Truckers coach Brock Manlet said.
Norwalk outscored Columbian 27-9 in the second half after the game was tied 25-25 at half.
“There was no magic formula,’’ Manlet said. “I thought Morgan (Turner) and Adrianna (Rodriguez) really gave us a physical presence on both ends in the second half.’’
Alicia Lortcher led Norwalk with 15 points.
“Alicia Lortcher kept us in the game in the first half,’’ Manlet said. “She had a double-double (12 rebounds) for the game.’’
Norwalk led 17-11 after the first quarter, before Columbian outscored the visitors 14-8 in the second to produce the halftime tie.
“Give Tiffin credit,’’ Manlet said. “They played really hard and outplayed us in the first half, which is why we struggled early.’’
Turner chipped in with 10 points.
Sydnie Fetherolf scored six points, but held Columbian’s Valesha Province to 13 points.
Province is a 20-point per game scorer.
“Syd did a great job on Province again defensively,’’ Manlet said.
