TIFFIN —  St. Paul’s Bella Stoll and Seneca East's Seina Adachi changed the first half of an opening round Division IV sectional tournament girls’ basketball team into a classic one-on-one battle Tuesday night.

The Lady Flyers ended up winning, erased a five-point deficit to start the fourth en route 50-47 victory at Tiffin Columbian High School.

St. Paul (15-7) returns to Columbian at 6:15 p.m. Saturday in the first sectional final against top-seeded New Riegel.

The winner moves on to district competition.

“Way too close," Lady Flyers coach Vicky Mahl said. “We had our moments, but we played well at the end of the second half. My team didn’t stop. They work well together and don’t ever give up.”

Stoll and Adachi traded the opening two buckets, as the Tigers led 6-5 on two three pointers.

St. Paul, however, had the hot-hand scoring three of their opening four shots from behind the arc to take a 13-8 lead.

Adachi scored four points in a Tiger 6-0 run to close the opening period with a 14-13 advantage.

Stoll scored seven of her team's 13 points in the second quarter to help the Lady Flyers control a 26-19 advantage at the break.

Stoll finished with 12 points in the half and Adachi had 13 of her team's 19 points in the first two quarters.
