South Central moves on to district tourney

ONTARIO — South Central is off to the Division IV district girls’ basketball tournament.

The Lady Trojans posted a 62-28 win over Mansfield Christian during a sectional final Saturday night at Ontario High School.

South Central improved to 23-1 overall and is scheduled to face Tiffin Calvert in the 6:15 p.m. district semifinal at Shelby High School.

In Saturday’s game, Anna Hintz paced South Central with 21 points, while Summer Sweeting added 15.

Hintz went 9-of-15 from the field.

The Lady Trojans were 26-of-54 from the field and 9-of-15 from the free-throw line with 25 rebounds, 14 assists, 10 turnovers and 17 steals.

Hintz notched six rebounds.

Sweeting dished out four assists.

Anna Hintz, Olivia Blanton and Alexis Huffman each gained three steals.

South Central jumped out to a 15-7 first-quarter lead.

They upped the advantage to 37-9 by halftime, 51-20 after three quarters and the eventual final margin.
