Norwalk claimed a 4-1 win over Willard Tuesday in Northern Ohio League tennis action.
The Lady Truckers (11-1, 5-0) won at second and third singles and first and second doubles.
Willard’s lone win was at first singles.
“On a hot day, it was great to see two good teams battle it out on the court,’’ Norwalk coach Chris Higgins said. “At first singles, Sara (Stoll) was unable to get rolling against a Willard opponent that was very impressive today.
“The rest of Sara’s teammates had her back, as they managed to claim all four remaining courts,’’ the coach added. “Lauren Ott was involved in two very long sets. In the end she was able to pull away by keeping the ball in play and moving her opponent. Karlee (Talkington) was dominant tonight as she continues to get better at third singles.”
Higgins also talked about his doubles teams.
“Lauren (Steffanni) and Johnna (Thomas) put together two strong sets against a good Willard doubles team,’’ Higgins said. At the end of the day, they managed a comeback at the end of the second set to claim the victory. Brenna (Berry) and Audrey (Nutter), once again did not give up in a long three set match. After a tough loss on Monday night, they rebounded very well today.”
