Port Clinton’s boys  team ended its historic postseason run with a 5-2 loss to Bay Village (13-4-3) in a Division II regional semifinal at Firelands Regional Medical Center stadium at Perkins High School.

The game was the Redskins’ first regional appearance in program history and they end the 2012 campaign with an 18-2 record.

Bay, ranked No. 9 in the final Div. II state coaches poll, struck first with a pair of early goals.

Dan Linhart put one away five minutes into the match and Chris Eaton scored off a free kick to give Bay a 2-0 lead with 31:15 remaining in the first half.

Port Clinton, ranked No. 10 in the final coaches poll, answered back less than a minute later as Jon Brown got free and placed the ball around Bay’s keeper.

The Redskins got on the board first in the second half on a play that started with another breakaway run by Brown.

Brown’s touch got away from him and a Rocket defender played the ball out for a throw-in. The Redskins’ throw in sailed into the box and Brown headed the ball in off a mis-clearance to knot things up 2-2 with 32 minutes remaining in the second half.

The Rockets put away goals No. 4 and 5 within four minutes of each other.
