Three areas ranked in top 10

Three area volleyball teams are ranked int he top 10 in their respective divisions in the latest Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association state poll, which was released Monday.

St. Paul is ranked second in Division IV, Norwalk third Division II and Huron eighth Division III.

The Lady Flyers, Firelands Conference champions, are 20-2 and have 246 points, incuding three firsts.

They are after Marion Local (19-3 and 27 firsts) with 320 points.

Norwalk moved up from fourth in the last poll.

The Northern Ohio League champs, also with a 20-2 mark and two firsts, have 293 points.

Padua Franciscan (20-2) is ranked first at 416 points, followed by Archbishop McNicholas (20-1) at 378.

Meanwhile, Sandusky Bay Conference champ Huron cracked the top 10 and are eighth.

The Lady Tigers (19-3) have 126 points, including three firsts.

Miami East (22-1) lead Division III with 451 points.

Mt. Notre Dame (22-0) holds the top spot in Division I at 406 points.

The sectional tournament starts this week.
