Norwalk reaches regional final

The Norwalk sophomore recorded an ace and the Lady Truckers posted another tournament win.

Norwalk swept Amanda-Clearcreek 25-6, 25-11, 25-18 to earn a spot in the district final.

Padua Franciscan, the top-ranked team in the state, downed Eastwood 25-6, 25-13, 26-24 in the second match.

The regional final is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Ontario with a trip to the state tournament on the line.

Norwalk (25-2) started out strong against Amanda-Clearcreek, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the first game.

Norwalk pushed the advantage back up and closed the opener with an 11-2 run, including a Clearcreek block which went out for the game winner.

Another strong start helped Norwalk in the second game. They led 13-4 at one point and pushed the advantage to as many as 13 points.

Norwalk closed the match on a Sydney Obringer kill.

Clearcreek took a 5-3 lead in the third game. They also led 12-10.

They finally secured the match on a Freriks ace.

Alicia Lortcher led the way at the net with 13 kills.

Sam Obringer posted 13 digs.
