Huron’s student section came out in full force Thursday night at Findlay High School, but in the end, it was Columbus Bishop Ready’s volleyball team that was screaming the loudest after a Division III regional semifinal.
After trading wins back and forth, Huron fell 25-22, 15-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-13 to Bishop Ready to end its hopes at another state title run.
The Tigers end the season at 22-4, with Sandusky Bay Conference and district championships and the No. 6 ranking in the final state coaches poll.
Tied with two wins apiece,the Tigers lead by two points for most of the fifth and final game. The Knights managed to tie up the game eight times.
A kill by Hannah Cantrill put the Tigers up 13-11 but two serves later Bishop Ready had tied the game again, forcing Huron to call a timeout.
The Knights scored the next point under the serving arm of Karley Kusan. The Tigers called another timeout, but Kusan led the Knights to the winning point.
For Huron, Hadley Sterett was 21 of 21 serving, 28 of 30 hitting and had 12 kills.
Kat Ferrell went 38 of 43 hitting with 19 kills and 16 digs.
