The Norwalk sophomore plays on the team which is going to state volleyball tournament Thursday at the Ervin J. Nutter Center in Dayton.

The Lady Truckers will play Kettering Alter at noon in the first of two Division II semifinals.

Freriks swam in two events during the state swimming tournament in February in Canton, finishing seventh each in the Division I 50 and 100 freestyle.

The swimming season starts later this month, but volleyball is Freriks’ main priority right now.

Norwalk coach Angie Kalizewski has been pleased with Freriks’ play.

“She does a great job,’’ Kalizewski said. “She does a great job at working hard in the all the sports she’s involved in. She wanted to stay and be with her friends. She gives everything she has.’’
