The postseason starts this week with league meets. And for the Firelands Conference, that means Wednesday and Friday, eight teams will converge on New London to determine champions.

The postseason starts this week with league meets.

And for the Firelands Conference, that means Wednesday and Friday, eight teams will converge on New London to determine champions.

The district, regional and state tournaments are all upcoming in the next month.

What: Firelands Conference tournament at New London.

When: 4 p.m. Wednesday with finals in the pole vault, girls discus, 3200 relay and high jump and boys shot put, long jump and 3200 relay. Semifinals in the 100 (girls)/110 (boys) hurdles, 300 hurdles, 100, 200 and 400 dashes. 4 p.m. Friday with fianls int he girls shot put and long jump and boys discus and high jump. 6 p.m. Friday with finals in running events.

Who: Crestview, Mapleton, Monroeville, New London, Plymouth, St. Paul, South Central, Western Reserve.

What to look for: Western Reserve has swept the FC the last two years... The Western girls won the Edison Invitational April 14, Mapleton Night Invitational April 27 and Bob Knoll Invitational May 5... New London’s boys’ team captured wins at the Mapleton Night Invitational and Bob Knoll Invitational... Since 2001, Western's girls have won nine FC tournaments with New London winning the other two... St. Paul's girls won in 1998, 1999 and 2000... The boys competition has been more balanced since 2000 with New London, Monroeville and Crestview winning three times each.. Crestview's boys attained six titles from 1996 to 2002..
