CLYDE — Norwalk’s tennis team moved to 2-0 on the season Wednesday with a 3-2 win over Clyde.
The Lady Truckers received wins from Olivia Kasten at first singles, Jaclynn Hipp second singles and Jacqueline McClune third singles.
Kasten blanked Spencer Robles 6-0, 6-0; Hipp downed Sara Potts 6-2, 6-1 and McClune grabbed a hard-fought 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-2 victory over Caitlin Nearhead.
“This was a very close match against a scrappy Clyde team,’’ Norwalk coach Chris Higgins said.  “Olivia and Jaclynn did a great job of holding their own at first and second singles.”
The match, though, came down to third singles.
“With the match tied 2-2, all spectators spent the last hour and a half of this match watching Jacqueline McClune play her heart out to eventually defeat a capable opponent at third singles,’’ Higgins said. “The entire coaching staff and her teammates are very proud of her effort in a comeback win to decide the match.
Norwalk is slated to host Napoleon Thursday at the Norwalk Middle School courts.
