Norwalk rallies to beat Galion

The Norwalk volleyball team rallied for a 23-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-20 win over Galion Tuesday in Northern Ohio League action.
In hitting for the Lady Truckers, Sam Obringer went 22-of-26 with 14 kills, Lindsey Ziemke 20-of-22 and six kills and Kelli Weininger 18-of-21 with six kills and nine blocks.
McKenzie Hall had 19 assists and Abby Moffit added 15 assists.
Obringer led the way defensively with 20 assists, Oakley Shane posted 12 and Mikailey Rogers contributed 10.
“Galion played us very well,’’ Norwalk coach Angie Kalizewski said. “They came at us. I was very proud of our kids. They stayed calm and fought every step of the way.
“Defensively, we played well,’’ the coach added. “They had fun. Lindsey Ziemke stepped up and did well, Kelli stepped up in blocking and Sam led us defensively in the back row and was a good leader. It’s a great way to start the season.’’
Norwalk’s reserve team captured a 31-29, 25-6 win.
Taylor Braden went 14-of-15 with five kills at the net. Abby Miller added 7-of-8 with four kills.
Hannah Friend, Miller, Kayla Pelham, Marissa Rutherford and Shelbi Brown were all 100 percent servers. Norwalk is scheduled to host Willard Thursday in NOL play.
