Perkins Michael Lococo makes a run as Huron's Max Gimperling tries to stop the ball.

Two Sandusky Bay Conference schools won their Tuesday games in close fashion.

Michael Lococo scored the lone goal for Perkins with eight minutes before halftime Tuesday, and Perkins beat Mansfield St. Pete, 1-0.

Port Clinton junior Nick Hemminger converted a penalty kick with five minutes left, and the Redskins beat Edison, 1-0.

Goalkeeper Devin Bermudez collected a ball and its the ball downfield, nearly three-quarters of the field for Lococo to run onto, Perkins coach Juan Romero said.

Lococo, who scored twice and assisted another in Saturday's 4-0 win against Columbian, got past a defender and was one-on-one with the goalie as he finished his shot.

Bermudez made four saves for his second shutout of the year. Perkins (2-0) took 12 shots on goal.

The Spartan goalkeeper made some point-blank saves, Romero said, keeping the game close.

Hemminger's penalty kick kept the Redskins unbeaten on the year at 3-0.

Port Clinton was awarded a penalty because an Edison player was judged to have handled the ball while standing in front of his own net, and was red-carded, for preventing a goal.

Port Clinton took nine shots on goal, and goalkeeper Garret Zunk made eight saves for the Redskins (3-0, 1-0).

Huron 10, Clyde 0

At Huron, John Dusza and Nico Samaniego both scored four goals in the home opener for the Tigers.

Curtis Boger and Dom Vacca added one goal each, while Dusza had two assists, and Sam Danilo, Jory Grznar, and Anthony Lane each set up a goal.

Taylor Prosser earned his first shutout for Huron.

"Our boys played well tonight. We are very proud of the progress we have made over the summer and look forward to the rest of the season," Huron coach Matt Asher said. "Our defense really played well and Taylor Prosser did well in goal."

Bowsher 6, Sandusky 0

At Sandusky, Bowsher built a 5-0 halftime lead at the Venice Heights Soccer Complex, and added another in the second half.

Brady Smith made eight saves in goal for Sandusky (0-3), who took five shots in the game compared to 14 for the Rebels.

Kind of sad for Perkins. Huron was up 5-0 on St. Pete's with 10 minutes to go. They're JV was in with 20 left.
