The Sandusky American Legion Post 83 baseball team capitalized just enough to earn a 7-2 victory over Fremont in the District 5 district opener at Tiffin University.
Post 83 (34-13) will play the winner of Willard and Galion on Friday at Heidelberg University.
Kyle Fluharty (Willard) pitched 8 1⁄3 innings for Post 83. He struck out six batters, gave up 10 hits and walked one.
Mike Drake (Sandusky) finished with a double, a single, a walk and three runs scored.
Logan Shullick (Norwalk) had a double, a walk and a run scored.
Trey Keegan (Sandusky) ended up with two singles, a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs.
