Three area players earn awards at LEJGA banquet

Three area youths received special awards Monday at the 25th annual Lake Erie Junior Golf Association banquet in Fremont following a round primarily for fun to signify the end of the season.

Three area youths received special awards Monday at the 25th annual Lake Erie Junior Golf Association banquet in Fremont following a round primarily for fun to signify the end of the season.

There were 75 participants in the Fremont Invite on the 18-hole Fremont Country Club course for the young golfers ages 7-19 who played well during the course of the 17-week tournament schedule.

Tyler Smith, a senior at Margaretta, was presented the overall Player of the Year award as well as the top honor for boys in the 17-19 age group.

Isaac Hartley, a sophomore at Bellevue, earned the POY award in the boys 14-16 age bracket.

Ana Fischer, a June graduate of Edison High school, was the recipient of the memorial scholarship award given annually to an individual who excels in the classroom, on the course and for extracurricular activities.
