Defending champion Port Clinton is off and running with a 3-0 record following one of two quads (four teams) Tuesday that officially kicked off the 2012 Sandusky Bay Conference season.
The Redskins put together their best-ever round on the Catawba Island Club course at 162 to ring up victories over Clyde (165), Margaretta (181) and Oak Harbor (219).
Meanwhile, the four remaining SBC teams were at Thunderbird Hills South, home course for Edison, and the Chargers finished the day at 1-2 with their 161 mark.
Huron had 154 total , Perkins compiled 156 and St. Mary Central Catholic checked in at 180 total.
In quad matches, the host team can win as many as three points (one for each opponent it beats) while the visiting schools can record either one point (for a win) or no points (a loss to the hosts).
The top individual effort Tuesday was submitted by Perkins senior Nate Foss who fired a two-under-par 34 on the front nine at T-Bird South.
Huron’s Keegan Bollenbacher and Eric Myles followed with 37s on the same course.
Junior Joey Kurtz and sophomore Shane Meek carded 39 or medal honors for Port Clinton.
Clyde, which won the Hohenstein Classic with a 312 mark Monday by one shot ahead of Perkins, also had a 39 turned in by Luke Hohenstein.
For Margaretta, senior Tyler Smith — the SBC Player of the Year in 2011 — finished with 40.
SMCC freshman Collin Crooks had a 40.
