It was quite the opening week for the Perkins girls golf team.
After opening with a win at Margaretta and a runnerup finish at the Perrysburg Invite Tuesday, the Pirates edged Ashland Wednesday afternoon at the Edison Invitational at Thunderbird South golf course.
Perkins finished with a 341 team score, beating Ashland (343) by two strokes.
Maddie Mullins and Avon Lake’s Niki Schroeder were co-medalists at 71 (-1 under par), but Schroeder got to take home the trophy after winning a playoff hole (No. 9) head-to-head. Schroeder won the event last year with a 75.
Lindsay Butler led Edison with an 88.
Huron got an 82 from Rafaella Gioffre.
Rounding out the area teams in the 24-team field was New London (415) in 14th, Norwalk (421) in 16th, Vermilion (428) in 17th, Margaretta (459) in 20th, Port Clinton (531) in 23rd and Oak Harbor (534) in 24th.
New London was led by Cassidy Wise (101), Norwalk by Kaiti Beveridge (101), Vermilion by Jessica Lardie (80), Margaretta by Kendra Gast (91), Port Clinton by Madison Cole (117) and Oak Harbor by Paige Siguardson (130).
