MILAN — Norwalk split with Bellevue and Edison Wednesday in wrestling competition at Edison High School. Elmwood was also in attendance.
The Truckers topped Bellevue 44-21 and fell to the Chargers 44-16.
For Norwalk on the night, Jake Montana at 125 pounds collected two pins, Jake Alexander 189/215 a 9-1 major decision and forfeit and Lance Leto at 215/285 a pair of forfeits.
Winning once were Carl Hokes at 140 with a 6-5 decision; Nick Davis 145 9-1 major decision; Alex Doughty 152 a 10-2 major decision; Kyle Lang 119 and Jake Alexander 215 forfeit and Jake Kluding 112 a pin at 47 seconds.
“We saw some bright spots, but we still have a lot of work to do,’’ Norwalk coach Danny Helton said. “Edison really took it to us and we need more guys to step up when there is a little adversity instead of backing down.
“Jake Montana looked pretty dominant throughout the night and Carl Hokes had a really nice victory at the end of the match against Bellevue,’’ the coach added. “We’ll get back in the room tomorrow and work on the things we need to work on.”
Among those that gained wins for the Chargers against the Truckers were Kyle Burns at 145, Jordan Cole 160, Jude Michel 103, Dalton Howard 112, Cam Michel 119, Mike Coffman 130, Tyler Majoy 135 and Cory Mancuso 140.
In junior varsity action, Byron Charles and Jordan Swigert both won twice, while Austin Scott and Kodi Williams each snared a victory.
The Truckers head to Mansfield for the JC Gorman Invitational Friday and Saturday. The Chargers host a quad match starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday with Norwalk, St. Paul and Bedford Chanel.
