A large field of area and non-area teams are scheduled to compete in one of the first early big invitationals of the season.
What: Dan Olien Invitational at New London.
When: 9 to noon.
Admission: $4 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens.
Who: Black River, Medina Buckeye, Columbia Station, Danbury, Firelands, Keystone, Mansfield Madison, Mapleton, Margaretta, Mohawk, Monroeville, Mount Gilead, New London, Northwestern, Norwalk, St. Paul, Oberlin, Ontario, Open Door, Plymouth, Seneca East, Smithville, Triway, West Holmes, Western Reserve, Willard.
What to look for: Norwalk's girls and Smithville's boys are the defending champions... Sydnie Fetherolf, of the Lady Truckers, finished second and Western Reserve's Amanda Miller took third... New London's Jon Albaugh placed third in the boys' race... Albaugh and Miller eventually advanced to the state tournament and both earned all-Ohio honors.
