Entering the season, the Sandusky football team was going to field many players learning the varsity game on the fly with 20 new starters combined on offense and defense.
In the 107th meeting with longtime rival Fremont Ross on Friday night, the young Blue Streaks learned early and often what it takes to succeed at the varsity level, as Ross scored on the opening kickoff and never looked back in a 52-18 win at Harmon Field at Don Paul Stadium.
It is the most points scored by Ross in the 107 meetings between the two schools, with Sandusky's lead in the series standing at 53-46-8.
The Little Giants (1-0) ran up a 40-6 lead by halftime.
