The St. Paul Lady Flyers opened the 2012 season with a hard-fought 25-8, 25-19, 25-19 win over the Western Reserve Lady Riders on Tuesday night at the convocation center in Firelands Conference action.

St. Paul coach Nancy Miller liked the overall effort of her squad.

“We came out strong for our very first match and I thought passed the ball very well tonight,” Miller said.
“In games two and three we had some sloppy play, with the front row not doing a good job of putting the ball down,” the coach added. “But Western Reserve was doing a good job of putting up a solid block.”
