A week after finishing third in the Sandusky Bay Conference Duals, Edison pulled together to go 10-0 over two days for the tournament title in the Ohio Division III Duals at St. Mary Central Catholic.
"We set high expectations for these kids," Edison third-year head coach Davy Hermes said. "And, like I said all through the year, that's why we have that (difficult) schedule: for the end of the year. Obviously coming in we knew that West Jefferson had a nice team. Delta's got a nice team, Archbold's got a team with 14 guys with winning records. We all know what Monroeville's got.
"There weren't any teams on paper that I thought we couldn't beat. It was going to take some kids stepping up, and I thought everybody on the team (did). It was a total team effort, and everybody from 103 to heavyweight did their job this weekend."
The Chargers demonstrated endurance as well: Counting last weekend's SBC Duals tournament, they wrestled 17 in a matter of eight days.
Jude Michel (103), Kyle Burns (145) and Jordan Cole (160) each went 10-0 during the weekend, earning spots on the first all- tournament team. Tyler Majoy went 9-1 -- the exception a tech fall against Monroeville's Hunter Stieber, while Jaime Kimberlin (152) and Zach Rutherford (171) went 8-1. Dalton Howard (112) and Cam Michel (119) went 8-2.
