In Buckeye Bits column for Fandy.com print magazine, the players rated the team defensively and offensively themselves through six games. This time, here are my five top players halfway through the season: 1. James Laurinaitis: The junior linebacker has been a nightmare on opposing players with a team-leading 48 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss, three sackes and two interceptions. The impressive part about Laurinaitis is he always seems to be around the ball. 2. Brian Robiskie: The junior wide receiver has proved to be a solid No. 1 guy with a team-leading 31 catches for 594 yards. Robiskie runs good routes and can break away, like against Washington. 3. Marcus Freeman: Contiuining with a defensive theme, the red-shirt junior linebacker is second in tackles with 35. He also has five tackles for loss and is one reason the Buckeyes lead the nation in points given up at 7.2 per game. 4. Anderson Russell: The redshirt sophomore defensive back has rebounded from a season-ending injury in Game 5 of last season against Iowa with 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and three sacks in 2007. 5. Vernon Gholston: The redshirt junior defensive end only has 13 tackles, but 3.5 for loss, three sacks and one fumble recovery for a touchdown. With Lawrence Wilson's injury, Gholston has become a leader on the defensive line. Agree? Disagree? Let me know, Buckeye fans

Mike, you left out Malcolm Jenkins. The kids takes away half the field in pass coverage, and has great instincts in run support and loves to come up and hit. 25 tackles, two picks, and three passes broken up. Last year, he took Texas' Limas Sweed away from Colt McCoy (3 grabs for 37 yards) and took Michigan's Mario Manningham away from Chad Henne (6-86, three on first drive, and three on the last).
