All good things must come to an end.
After opening with a strong 7-2 win over Millcreek, Pa. on Day 1 of the Bob Kowalk Classic, the Sandusky Post 83 baseball team saw its 11-game winning streak come to an end with a 9-5 loss to Toledo Post 335.
Post 83 (14-3) committed five errors in the loss. Associate head coach Mike Shepherd said it was a mixed review on whether or not the 10-day layoff affected the team Friday.
"Sometimes it's hard to come mentally sharp after 10 days off, no matter how much you practice," Shepherd said. "You don't see live pitching and can't simulate exact ground balls, but you still have to come out and make the routine plays that were capable of making."
In the win over Millcreek, Robert Fravel (Port Clinton) continued his summer dominance by improving to 4-0 on the mound after pitching six solid innings. The Capital University recruit allowed two runs on six hits with one strikeout and three walks.
