Perkins places second at the district golf tournament, Norwalk earns a share of the Northern Ohio League volleyball crown, and Port Clinton wins the Ottawa County Invite in cross country.

GOLF

Perkins advances: The Pirates shot a 367 total (Maddy Mullins 75, Maddie Torres 97, Kaleigh Rapp 97, Hayley Roll 108) to advance to the first state tournament in school history. They finished second behind Lima Central Catholic. Edison tied for third, but lost a tiebreaker.

Lhing Worathanawong on: Clyde's Lhing Worathanawong qualified for the state tournament with a 79. In addition to playing tennis for the Fliers, the Thai exchange student also golfs for the boys team since the Clyde girls do not field a team.

VOLLEYBALL

Norwalk 3, Bellevue 0: The Norwalk girls (17-1, 8-0 NOL) earned at least a share of the Northern Ohio League title with a dominant victory against Bellevue. Geena Freriks led with 12 kills on 21 of 22 hitting.

Edison 3, Margaretta 1: The Chargers finished the season series 2-0 against the Polar Bears, inching toward the Sandusky Bay Conference title. Edison (11-0 SBC) can claim a share of the conference with a win Thursday against St. Mary Central Catholic. Edison overcame a first-set loss for the win.

Clyde 3, Perkins 1: Rachael Smetzler tallied nine kills for the Fliers in a 3-1 win over Perkins.

St. Paul 3, Plymouth 0; Monroeville 3, South Central 0: The Lady Flyers and Eagles maintained course heading into Thursday's rematch with the conference title on the line (or a share of it outright).

TENNIS

St. Mary CC 3, Clyde 2: Armelle, Noelle and Colette DeRiso won Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles respectively in a victory over Clyde.

Columbian 4, Norwalk 1: Olivia Kasten scored Norwalk's only win of the match in No. 1 singles as the Tornadoes took down the Truckers (9-4, 5-3 NOL).

CROSS COUNTRY

Port Clinton sweeps Ottawa County: The Redskins boys and girls stood atop the small Ottawa County meet Tuesday at Oak Harbor. Nicole Hablitzel won the race for the Redskins in 21:20, while David Leone was the top finisher for the boys in second in 18:28.
