FINAL: Edison 1, Huron 1

2011
A breakdown of Wedesday's 1-1 tie between Edison and Huron in girls soccer, highlighting the key moments and players in the game.
TURNING POINT: Edison was headed for a 1-0 win until Huron's Susie Reyes — who earlier missed a wide-open goal on a deflected shot — won a header on a free kick that arced high in the air, over Edison keeper Rachel Kiley, and fell at the far post and bounced in to tie the game.
BEST PLAYER IN THE GAME: Edison's Olivia Schmitke was creative with her passes, and teamed well with Michelle Johnston on the Chargers' goal. Johnston put a ball between the Huron defense for Schmitke to run on to, and she placed her shot low and to the far post with 90 seconds left in the first half.
She was Edison's best threat all night, and just missed on a couple of other chances of not for key saves from Huron's Audra Wisehart.
BEST CALL: Reyes spent most of the game on the right side of midfield, and only after she missed the open net and came out of the game did she play on the left side, subbing in and out. When she scored the goal, she was on the left side of the field and got on the end of Amanda Vacca's long free kick to head the ball goalward.
NEXT: Huron (6-6-3, 4-4-3 SBC) has Fremont Ross on Saturday, then Margaretta on Monday in the Division III sectionals at Genoa; Edison (8-4-4, 6-3-3) is of until Tuesday against Mansfield St. Pete in the Div. III sectional at Mansfield Christian.
