Did you hear? Beanie is probable...

Anthony Moujaes and I went to Columbus on Tuesday for Coach Tressel's press conference at the Jack Nicklaus Museum on the campus of the Ohio State University.
As you can imagine, the focus of the questions surrounded starting freshman quarterback Terrelle Pryor and the status of Beanie Wells, his toe and his status for Saturday's game with Minnesota.
The press conference with the head coach of the Buckeyes was a first for both of us and I can just say "wow." There were over 50 reporters, videographers, photographers and others in the room. A stark contrast from the two or three reporters walking up to a local high school coach following a great win or crushing defeat.
Coach Tressel talked about how advanced Pryor is as a true freshman, how he was disappointed in the fans for booing Boeckman and how well Beanie Wells did in Monday's practice. Tressel listed Beanie as "probable" for Saturday's Big Ten opener with Minnesota.
What Anthony and I thought was most amusing from our Columbus visit was how many times the radio stations from both Columbus and Cleveland talked about Beanie Wells and his probability for this weekend's game. I wasn't just the local talk radio, but also the national reports. You would have thought that Jim Brown was suiting up this weekend.
Maybe we just found it amusing because we were actually in the room when Tressel said it and now it was all over the airwaves. Again, and again, and again...
