VOLLEYBALL

  • Edison 3, Huron 0: The Chargers finished a perfect season in the SBC, 14-0, with a three-set sweep against Huron Thursday in the Tigers' den, 25-22, 25-18, 25-21. When the Chargers defeated Clyde on Tuesday to claim the title outright, they ended Huron's 12-season SBC-title streak.
  • St. Paul 3, New London 0: The Lady Flyers secured a share of their 12th consecutive conference title and 19th overall.
  • Monroeville 3, Mapleton 0: The Eagles buttoned down the other half of the Firelands Conference title, their first since 1988.
  • Norwalk 3, Columbian 1: The Norwalk girls finished undefeated in the Northern Ohio League, 10-0, and took the conference outright with a four-set win over Columbian.
  • Western Reserve 3, Crestview 1
  • Margaretta 3, St. Mary CC 0
  • Perkins 3, Oak Harbor 0
  • Clyde 3, Port Clinton 0
  • Bellevue 3, Sandusky 0

TENNIS

  • Norwalk's run ends in districts: Singles players Olivia Kasten and Aubrey Cook won their first-round matches in Thursday's district tournament, but fell in the second round. Cook upset the No. 1 seed from Anthony Wayne, Courtney Krieg, in the first round, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Kayla Pelham and Hannah Herner fell to their first-round opponents from Perrysburg, Cammy Messenger and Carmen Alkire.
  • Perkins 3, Huron 2: With a win over Huron, the Pirates kept hope alive for a share of the conference title with a win over the Tigers. Perkins' Keli Daugherty overcame a first-set loss in No. 2 singles and the Pirates' No. 1 tandem of Carlee Vaughn and Taylor Hayes scored a big win in No. 1 doubles to lift the Pirates (9-3 SBC). Huron (9-2) must finish a postponed match with Port Clinton Tuesday, and if the Redskins are victorious, the Pirates will plunder a share of the title.
  • St. Mary CC wins doubleheader vs. Oak Harbor: The Panthers won both halves of a doubleheader Thursday against the Rockets, 3-1 and 3-2. Oak Harbor junior Ashley LaFountain scored her milestone 100th career victory in the second match against SMCC's Colette DeRiso. SMCC earned two wins from Makenna Myers, Sarah May and Noelle DeRiso.
  • Port Clinton 3, Clyde 2

GOLF

  • Norwalk's Lieber on to state: Norwalk senior Dustin Lieber earned a trip to the state tournament Thursday with an even-par 72 at Red Hawk Run near Findlay. Though the Truckers (330) finished just 14 strokes off the district-champion Little Giants of Fremont Ross (316), they finished ninth of 10 in the district. Perkins' Nate Foss, who qualified as an individual, shot an 84.

BOYS SOCCER

  • Port Clinton 8, Clyde 0: The Sandusky Bay Conference champion Redskins finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 SBC record as they defeated Clyde soundly Thursday night. Nick Heminger recorded two goals and an assist in the win while Brandon Stubblefield added a goal and a pair of assists.
  • St. Peter's 2, Norwalk 1: The Truckers suffered their first loss of the season Thursday against Mansfield St. Peter's. The game was scoreless at the half before St. Peter scored early in the second half. Norwalk's Zach Tanzillo scored the tying goal, but the visitors ended up scoring the game-winner just a minute later.
