GOLF

  • Perkins 8th at state: The Perkins girls finished 8th as a team in the Division II girls state tournament with a 763 Saturday on the Gray Course at Ohio State. Perkins' Maddy Mullins was seventh as an individual with a 158 over 36 holes to lead the team. Clyde's Lhing Worathanawong was 14th as an individual with a 84-83--167.
  • Rice shoots 177: Lake Ridge Academy's Mitchell Rice, from Sandusky, shot a 177 (88-89) in the Division III boys state tournament Friday and Saturday.

TENNIS

  • Three finalists, three state qualifiers: Oak Harbor's Ashley LaFountain and Clyde's Amanda Cahill and Lexi Weber made the state tournament with top-three Northwest District finishes.

CROSS COUNTRY

  • SBC Championships: Perkins' Michael Decker took the individual title for the boys as the Pirates ran away with the title. SMCC's Lindsay Kaatz topped the girls' race, but the Port Clinton girls won the team title.
  • NOL Championships: The Norwalk boys edged Tiffin Columbian by a team point in Saturday's race as Spencer and Quentin Howell earned second- and third-place finishes, respectively.
  • FC Championship: Jonathan Albaugh won the boys race in the FC championships to lead New London to a team title. Amanda Miller was second overall for the second-place Western Reserve.

VOLLEYBALL

  • Edison 3, St. Paul 2: The Chargers earned revenge for a two-set sweep in the Pepsi Lady Knights Invite with a five-set win.
  • Col. Bishop Hartley 3, Huron 2: The Tigers pushed a state volleyball power to five sets, but fell.
