Ten area players were named to the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association All-Ohio team Monday afternoon.
St. Paul's Corynne Smith and Edison's Elise Gastier were first-team selections in Division IV and Division III each, respectively. Both players are also two-time District 6 Player of the Year award winners, while Smith finishes a three-time All-Ohioan, including back-to-back first-team selections. Gastier was an honorable mention choice a year ago. Both players also led their teams to regional runner-up finishes Saturday as Smith and the Lady Flyers fell in five games to Mohawk while Gastier and the Chargers dropped a four-game decision to Columbus Bishop Ready.
In Division II, Sam Obringer was a second-team selection and Kelli Weininger was an honorable mention choice for Norwalk. Obringer was also a District 6 Player of the Year while playing in the back row for Norwalk, which finished 21-4 and No. 3 in the coaches poll along with a second straight Northern Ohio League title. Norwalk dropped a five-game thriller in the districts to Mansfield Madison for a second straight season.
In Division III, Gastier's teammate and hitter Abbey Cox was a second team selection along with Huron hitter Kat Ferrell. Margaretta's Katie Nesbitt, who will attend Cleveland State on a volleyball scholarship next fall, was a third team selection. Edison libero Lauren Teed was named honorable mention.
In Division IV, Monroeville hitter Jamie Kluding was chosen for second team. St. Paul junior hitter Olivia Livengood was a third team selection.
