With winter now in full swing, here's our top four (a bonus pick this week) events for the weekend.

In no particular order:

1. Sandusky at Perkins

Why wouldn't you want to see the two neighboring districts battle on the basketball floor?

Tristen Jeffries and Xavier Turner lead the Blue Streaks (1-0) against Nic Williams and the Pirates (1-1). This will be the third team from the Northern Ohio League Perkins will face in four games (Norwalk and Bellevue are the other two).

WANT TO GO: Approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Perkins High School

2. A-Behr Blue Streak X Classic

While some of the better swim programs in the area aren't at the A-Behr, it doesn't mean there isn't any talent in the water.

Two-time state qualifiers Taylor Vargo of Sandusky and Tyler Beekman of Margaretta are in the mix.

But the A-Behr has been a close meet recently — usually between the Blue Streaks and Polar Bears — with the final few races deciding the title. Click to read Anthony Moujaes' blog on the A-Behr.

WANT TO GO: Diving at 6 p.m. today at Margaretta High School; Swimming at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sandusky High School

3. Bob Bailey Invite

The Bob Bailey wrestling invite is in its 35th year, and on Saturday will collect a variety of teams from north Ohio to the gym at Bellevue High School.

Host Bellevue is always a team to watch as the Redmen historically have done well at the event. Other area programs to compete are Port Clinton, Western Reserve and Vermilion.

WANT TO GO: Opening round at 10 a.m. Saturday; Finals

4. Florida State at Akron

Former Perkins All-Ohioan and now All-American Cierra Bravard makes her second and final visit of the year to Ohio for a women's college basketball game. Bravard, the only senior on the team, is on the Naismith watchlist and leads FSU in scoring (17.4 ppg) and field goal shooting (53.9 percent) this season.

WANT TO GO: 2 p.m. Saturday at James A. Rhodes Arena, Akron
