The Ohio High School Athletic Association said on Twitter that the triple jump — one of track and field's more enteraining visual spectacles in my opinion — isn't happening.
The OHSAA wrapped up a board meeting this morning, where it made the decision.
What I'm curious to know is how many track and field athletes out there would have liked to see the triple jump added, and how many would have triple-jumped? Should the OHSAA have removed another event in favor of the triple jump?
Any takers? Post your thoughts in the comments below.

Not a bad idea in theory, really bad in reality. Many schools have limited runway space to simply get the long jump concluded in a timely manner so the TJ would have lengthened meets. The event is extremely demanding on an athletes legs, it would have been a neat novelty early on with injury aplenty as the season progressed. If you have a big squad and could have separate long jumpers and triple jumpers it still would have been prohibitive time-wise.
