Rivera would be a great fit to replace Folger in Huron's 4x4. He was at state with the crew this year as the alternate. Nice kid, hard worker, very reliable. Hopefully he will develop a mindset of wanting to be apart of the "man's race" Great races by the SBC kids down in Cbus. Leslie in the 800 was phenominal and looked like he could have kept running when he finished. 4x4 finals was a great race all around as the top 7 times were all under 3:25..Huron's Lehrer got caught up in alot of traffic and was cut off as soon as he took the batton, had that not happened the tigers probably would have finished 3rd. Clyde's Thurn ran great races both friday and saturday and looked like a man on a mission. Interesting note about Huron's 4x4... they took 5th in the 2006 districts and returned 3 guys, they took 7th in the 2007 regionals and returned 3 guys, and took 6th at state in 2008 and now will return 3 guys for the 2009 season.01:34 PM

I forgot Koening as another possibility. He did an excellent job for you guys. Since everyone gets to run only 4 events, I could see Kramer dropping the 100 and move into the 4x400 somewhere along the way. Kade is a great 100 runner, but it's tough to get your wheels in shape for the longer distance if you just do the shorter sprints. We have Rivera that was on the 4x100 and 4x200, that could really pitch in on the 4x400.01:22 PM

Scott Koenig will likely be one of the replacements and Kade Kramer the other. (I hope) We have a couple of kids in the pipeline that may be able to contribute as Freshman next year. I cannot say enough about the fill in job that Koenig did in the District prelims when Justin Cook was hurt. He ran his best race of the year when we needed it most. I may be a classy track fan but I am a crazy ahole as a football fan! (lol - just kidding) This was a great year for Clyde Track and the SBC in general. I was definitely rooting for all the SBC kids at State. Truly amazing the mutual respect that has developed between our schools. When Clyde's 4X400 won the Huron kids were there patting them on the back and Corey Leslie came up and congradulated everyone as well. I hope that Huron and Clyde push each other next year as well. Clyde would not have become what they were if it were not for the high level of competition they got from the Huron boys 4X400 the last month of the season.01:06 PM

Alex, Clyde has some great runners waiting in the wings to take up where Thurn and Cook left off. Who do you think replaces them on that 4x400 relay? I think Kramer could be an ideal addition to that relay, as well as Lauer or Garcia. Sure is nice to have options. It all comes down to who's healthy this time next year. Once you factor in football and basketball over the next 8 months, anything can happen. Huron will need to replace Folger in the 2 spot for our relay. We've got a few quality guys that will apply for the job, so we'll see what happens. Yes, we would have liked to finish better than 6th place, but for a team that really didn't know what they had until late in the season, it was a pleasant suprise. One item of note, is that you can't duplicate the speed that you run into down at state. You can get around guys at some of the local invites and the SBC's, but nothing prepares you for the speed that is on the track at the "Jesse". We ran a nice race on Friday, but Saturday was another story. I'm proud to say that the Tigers were one of two teams that beat the eventual state champions for the 2008 season. It only happened once, but it gives us something to build on for next year. I hope we can both get back to the podium again in Columbus. Kind words for all the Clyde folks that we met over the season. Your team and fans were classy from the dual meet to the state finals. Continued success over the summer and into the fall season. I heard we have a football game over your way this year...11:17 AM

Sorry about the miss communication during the clyde article. We weren't on the same page and we will run another coverage of it tommorow. - Chris Graber This is what was intended to be put there when it was originally sent into the front office. With everyone doing extremely well at state and deadlines sometimes slip ups happen... "The Perkins Pirates managed to win the team state championship for division II with 48 points, but it was the Clyde Fliers 4x400 team of Ryan Scharf, Rick Webber, Aric Thurn, and Justin Cook that stood together on top of the podium with medals of gold after their 3:21.87 (school record) in the final event of the evening."08:31 PM

That was a great race from Clyde today in the finals of the 4x400. That was a very tight pack through the 2nd leg, with Thurn from Clyde moving from sixth to nearly first during the 3rd leg, and handing off the baton to Cook for the final 400. Thurn and Cook stole the show for the Fliers today and ran two outstanding legs. The Fliers worked extremely hard all the way through, but the two seniors showed tremenous poise and desire to bring home the gold. Huron got caught in the same traffic as Clyde got caught in on Friday. We were about 3rd or 4th after the 2nd leg and got caught in more traffic and got passed by a couple of teams and could never make up any ground. Hillman ran a nice 3rd leg, but the race was getting away from us at that point. Lehrer ran well from the back, but never made up any ground on the first group. We ended up sixth, but improved our time a little bit from yesterday. Huron's 4x400 was 1-7 against Clyde this year, but both teams really pushed each other from the SBC's to the state finals. Congratulations to Clyde for a state championship in the 4x400.07:53 PM

Clyde's 4X400 wins with a 3:21.87 today! I believe Huron finished 6th, with a 3:23.65. Rick Webber was sick yesterday and ran a bad split of almost 54 seconds. He was feeling much better today and ran about 50 seconds for his split. Ryan Scharf lead off and ran a great 1st leg. Rick Webber had a tough 2nd leg, as he was matched against Columbus Eastmoor's Isaiah Pead, who had earlier got 2nd in the 400m (48 seconds). Rick kept Clyde close and Aric Thurn ran a great 3d leg. Aric passed the last kid about 5 meters before handing the baton to Justin Cook. No one was going to pass Justin today as he pulled away and gave Clyde a 3 meter victory.04:47 PM

Sandusky Perkins- First off great showing today, secondly a new state record by a kid who is only a sophmore, can't wait till next year already Matt. Tommorw is going to be the day of all the tests, we can come out with 50+ points if all things go are way and that might help us edge out the powerhouse.. eastwood squad. Super hot weather out here today in columbus i can only imagine how it feels to be on that track right now. Clyde- Not to start on a down note, but from the times it seems like the weathe or something else is getting the fliers, they are not the kids on paper i saw all year, tommorw will bring a better day, good luck tommorw, 4x4 is a lock for a state title if everyone runs like they can, 3:22.?? will win it and i can see them getting a 3:21 and lower. OVerall this is a very exciting mee so far, being in 1st on friday is only a death wish, gut check time, and finally its all about going out and do what you've been doing all year long but against the best in ohio.
