Three great events to take you into the holiday week.
In no particular order:
1. GIRLSÂ BASKETBALL: Clyde at Perkins
The last several meetings between the Fliers and Pirates have been back-and-forth nail-biters. Clyde's regular season win-streak is at 31 games, dating back to a 2010 loss in January.
Clyde's Amanda Cahill, the SBC's top player as a freshmen last year, will lock up in the post with Shannon Ebert. On the perimeter, Perkins' Darcy Daniel and Jordan Fraley contend with Rachael Smetzler and Bre Michaels.
WANT TO GO: Approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday at Perkins High School
2. BOYSÂ BASKETBALL: Norwalk at Sandusky
Is Norwalk the best boys basketball team in this area?
We like to think so, but go have a look at the Truckers for yourself if you can make it over the Sandusky High School. Billed as the top two Northern Ohio League teams in the preseason, Sandusky has lost two straight games and Norwalk hasn't been challenged in four games (the closest game is a 17-point win).
WANT TO GO: Approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday at Sandusky High School
3. WRESTLING: Sandusky at St. Mary CC
These two city teams faed off three times from 2001-03, with SMCC at the height of its state-wide dominance. The Panthers won all three meetings.
How close will it be this time around? Probably much closer, as SMCC's lightweights will try to pick up points, while the Blue Streak heavyweights attempt the same.
Sandusky was handed a 55-13 loss Wendesday to Perkins, so it'll be interesting to see where their psyche is coming into this meet.
WANT TO GO: Opening round at 10 a.m. Saturday; Finals
