Former Margaretta, Western Reserve coach Don Wilson resigns at Loudonville

2011
After a tumultuous 2011, four-year Loudonville head football coach Don Wilson turned in his resignation for that position Thursday.
Wilson previously spent 13 seasons as the head coach at Margaretta from 1995-2007 as well as six years at Western Reserve from 1989-94.
Wilson, who finished his time leading the Redbirds with an 18-22 overall record and a 14-14 mark in Mid-Buckeye Conference play, kept his job in mid-February when the Loudonville-Perrysville Board of Education voted by a 3-2 count to retain him. That vote took place following a Loudonville board meeting Jan. 10 at which multiple community members raised concerns about Wilson leading the program.
With Wilson coaching this fall, the Redbirds finished 5-5 and tied for second in the MBC (5-2) by winning four of their last five games.
Both Wilson and LHS athletic director Shannon Sprang said Friday it was a resignation by his choosing, and the coach was concerned about things moving forward had he continued at that post.
